Rhoda Juels

Feminist Assemblage Artist

My philosophy and my artwork are inexorably intertwined in that the work highlights themes revolving around the achievements, and alternatively the global oppression of women throughout history. My current work takes the form of three-dimensional weatherproof assemblages and two-dimensional wall assemblages. The weatherproof work is installed in a Sacred Circle, an outdoor environment that I have developed adjacent to my home.

The pieces are constructed of brass mesh, beads, artifacts, fibers, found objects, and metal, which I form and assemble using sewing techniques and glue. I hope to catch the viewer's eye with the allure of beautiful materials and coax the observer into thoughtful contemplation concerning the issues in my heart and in my vision.
